On October 16th, World Food Day, Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the African Union and the African Union Commission jointly held the China-Africa International Symposium on Perennial Rice Technology at the African Union Headquarter, which was attended and addressed by H.E.Ambassador Hu Changchun and the Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture of the African Union Commission, H.E.Josefa Leonel Correia Sacko. More than 200 representatives from the African Union and UN agencies, agricultural departments of African countries, diplomatic missions based at Addis Ababa, and Chinese corporations and research institutes attended the symposium online and offline.

Ambassador Hu expressed that China will thoroughly implement the various outcomes including the “the Partnership Action for Agriculture and Livelihoods” proposed by President Xi Jinping during the FOCAC Beijing Summit, work with all parties to promote advanced and applicable agricultural technologies such as perennial rice, contribute to Africa's food security and agricultural modernization, and build an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.

Commissioner Sacko said, the AU side sincerely than China side for actively sharing its advanced experience and technologies in agricultural development. Perennial rice has been listed as a strategic innovative technology by the African Union Summit and will be promoted across the African Continent, which will inject new impetus into Africa's food security and economic and social development.
