On October 30, Ambassador Hu Changchun, Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union, met with Dr. Laila, UNICEF Representative to the African Union, to exchange views on deepening cooperation with Africa. Minister Counselor Lyu Ruihao was present.

Ambassador Hu said that the successful convening of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation provided new impetus to Jointly Build an All-Weather China-Africa Community with a Shared Future for the New Era. China appreciates UNICEF's adoption of its Africa Strategy and is willing to work with UNICEF to support the work on health and education in Africa, and to promote Africa's modernization process.

Dr Laila congratulated the successful FOCAC Beijing Summit, appreciated the inclusion of health and education development in the ten partnership actions, and was willing to actively coordinate with China, to jointly contribute to the child development and social development in Africa.
