On November 7th, Ambassador Hu Changchun, Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union, attended the high-level political forum of the World Without Hunger Conference co-hosted by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the African Union Commission and other organizations. UNIDO Director-General Gerd Müller, and about 300 representatives from the African Union Commission, more than 20 countries' governments, diplomats from various countries attended the conference.
Ambassador Hu expressed that China had achieved the poverty alleviation target of the SDGs 10 years ahead of the schedule, making significant contributions to global poverty reduction efforts. While ensuring its own food security, China actively participates in international cooperation on food issues and makes positive contributions to achieving Zero Hunger.
The participants had in-depth exchanges of view on how to achieve global "Zero Hunger" and implement the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development under the theme of "Global Action Against Hunger."
