On November 8th, Ambassador Hu Changchun, Head of Mission of China to the African Union (AU), met with H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, in Addis Ababa, where they exchanged views on the implementation of the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and deepening practical cooperation. Mr. Lyu Ruihao, minister counselor, was present.
Ambassador Hu said this session of the FOCAC Summit was successfully held and the relationship between the China and AU reached the best level in history. China commends the important progress made in the AfCFTA construction, firmly supports the integration process in Africa, and is willing to expand the communication and cooperation with the Secretariat, continue to provide assistance within its capacity for the AfCFTA construction, and make new and greater contribution to the development and prosperity of Africa.
H.E. Wamkele Mene lauded highly of the FOCAC summit outcome, sincerely appreciated China for its long-term valuable support and assistance to the Secretariat, and looked forward to further strengthening cooperation with China.
