On May 28, Ambassador Jiang Feng, Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union (AU), met with Mr. Gift Chatora, Director of the Liaison Office of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) to the AU.

Ambassador Jiang spoke highly of China’s cooperation with OCHA and stated that China stands ready to strengthen communication and coordination with the OCHA Liaison Office to the AU and deepen cooperation in humanitarian affairs, conflict prevention, disaster reduction and relief, to jointly support peace, stability and development in Africa. Ambassador Jiang also briefed on the significance of the meeting between the Chinese and U.S. presidents and the implications of building a constructive China-U.S. relationship of strategic stability.

Mr. Chatora applauded China’s long-standing support for peace, security and humanitarian causes in Africa, commended the outcomes of the meeting between the Chinese and U.S. presidents, and expressed willingness to strengthen cooperation with China in supporting the AU and African countries in enhancing their capacity to respond to regional conflicts and humanitarian crises.
