On August 14, Amb. Jiang Feng, Head of the Mission of China to the African Union, met with H.E. Amb. Tebelelo Alfred Boang, Permanent Representative of Botswana to the African Union.

Amb. Jiang noted that China and Botswana enjoy traditional friendship and have always offered sincere support to each other. Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, bilateral relations have continued to grow steadily, with fruitful outcomes achieved in practical cooperation across various fields. In the face of a complex and turbulent international situation, China stands ready to strengthen communication and coordination with Botswana through platforms such as the African Union, and jointly uphold the international system with the UN at its core, the international order underpinned by international law and basic norms of international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.

Amb. Boang spoke highly of Africa-China and Botswana-China relations. He expressed appreciation for China’s longstanding and valuable support for Africa’s peace, security and development, and reiterated Botswana’s unwavering commitment to the One-China Principle. The Permanent Mission of Botswana to the AU stands ready to strengthen communication and coordination with the Mission of China to the AU and jointly promote greater progress in Africa-China friendship and practical cooperation.
