Ambassador Kuang Weilin, Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union, met with H.E. Dr. Carlos Lopes, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and the Executive Secretary of the U.N. Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), on 21th September, 2015.
During the meeting, Amb.Kuang noted that UNECA has done a lot of researches for facilitating Africa’s economic and social development, and commended UNECA’s important role in providing valuable advice for African countries’ policymakers. Amb.Kuang stressed that China and UNECA should strengthen the cooperation to contribute to Africa’s sustainable growth.
Dr. Lopes acknowledged the growing importance of China's role in Africa, emphasizing that China-Africa relations especially industrial cooperation are facing golden opportunities. He reassured Amb.Kuang of his strong willingness in enhancing the cooperation between UNECA and the Chinese Mission to the African Union, and expected the cooperation to play a positive role in promoting China-Africa relations.
