On April 17th, Mr. ZHANG Wei, Minister of the Mission of China to the African Union, visited Ethiopian News Agency (ENA), and exchanged views with its CEO Mr. Seife Deribe and the management of ENA.

Mr. Zhang noted that the hallmark of our era is the prominent rising of the Global South. The Global South should stand together in unity, and speak in one voice to the world. China provides certainty to this uncertain world. The U.S.’s abuse of tariffs increased the uncertainty to Africa and the world. China supports the development of Africa and its greater role in international affairs. As the oldest and experienced newscaster in Ethiopia, ENA is based in the country and open to the African continent. With its special advantages, ENA can play a bigger role in conveying voices of African people.  

Mr. Deribe commended China for its great achievements. He said that China has always adhered to the principle of mutual respect, and is always a genuine partner of Africa. ENA will  express louder voices for Africa in a objective way and enhance its exchanges and cooperation with China and other countries in various fields.
