On April 23, Mr. ZHANG Wei, Minister and Deputy head of the Mission of China to the African Union met with Dr.Huyam Saleh, the Director of the African Union Bureau of Animal Resources(AU-IBAR) and exchanged views on cooperation in the fields of livestock and fisheries.

Dr. Huyam Saleh said that the AU-IBAR is an operational agency of the AU, responsible for the formulation and implementation of the African livestock and fishery strategy, as well as animal disease monitoring and prevention. She hopes to strengthen cooperation with China on the entire livestock and fishery industry chain, capacity building and centers of excellence.

Mr.Zhang said that China attaches great importance to livestock and fishery cooperation with Africa and will actively promote the implementation of the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and deepen practical cooperation between the two sides under the framework of the G20 and other mechanisms.
