On July 1, Minister ZHANG Wei met with Ms. Faten Aggad, Deputy Chief of Staff, Cabinet of the AUC Deputy Chairperson.

Minister ZHANG briefed the outcomes of the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). He emphasized that the congratulatory letter sent by President Xi Jinping and the meeting’s outcomes fully reflect the consistency of China’s Africa policy and its strong commitment to deepening China-Africa cooperation. He noted that, despite the current international landscape marked by transformation and turbulence, China stands ready to work together with the African Union to stand on the right side of history and the side of fairness and justice, firmly safeguard the current international order, practice true multilateralism, promote solidarity and cooperation among the Global South, and jointly advance modernization.

Ms. Aggad expressed her appreciation for Minister ZHANG’s briefing, noting that China has always been a steady partner of Africa and the African Union. She expressed the willingness of AU to strengthen policy coordination and personnel exchanges, and to work jointly with China to enhance practical cooperation in areas such as trade, science and technology, agriculture, and energy, in order to effectively implement the outcomes of the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators.
