Minister Mr. Zhang Wei Met with Leaders of Prominent African Think Tanks
On November 12 to 13, Mr. Zhang Wei, Minister and Deputy Head of the Mission of China to the African Union, met in Johannesburg with several prominent African think tank leaders attending the Global South Media and Think Tank Forum China-Africa Partnership Conference, including Peter Kagwanja, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Africa Policy Institute, and Charles Onunaiju, Director of the Center for China Studies.

Minister Zhang expressed his high appreciation for their active participation in and insightful contributions to the forum. He emphasized that China firmly supports South Africa in hosting a successful G20 Summit and leaving a clear “African imprint” on global governance.

They conducted in-depth exchanges on issues of mutual concern, including current African hot spot issues and the continent’s integration process. They agreed that China and Africa should further strengthen exchanges and cooperation between think tanks and media, jointly enrich the shared narrative of the Global South, uphold fairness and justice, and promote the development of a more equitable, just, reasonable and inclusive international order.
