On March 24, Minister Zhang Wei, Deputy Head of the Mission of China to the African Union, met with Prof. Hajer Gueldich, Director of the Office of the Legal Counsel of the African Union Commission. The two sides spoke positively of the development of China–AU relations, and underscored the significance of jointly hosting the "China–Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges" on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Africa. They also exchanged views on the current international and regional situation.

Minister Zhang also briefed Prof. Hajer Gueldich on the significance and key highlights of this year's "Two Sessions" , noting that China will continue to expand high-standard opening up and promote the upgrading and high-quality development of China–Africa cooperation through practical measures such as zero-tariff treatment to all African countries having diplomatic ties with China.
