Mission of China to the African Union Hosts a Special Open Day Event for Zoma School

On March 27, Mission of China to the African Union held a special Open Day event for Zoma School. Amb. Jiang Feng, Head of the Mission of China to the African Union, and Ms. Meskerem Assegued, founder of Zoma School, delivered opening remarks. The event was attended by over 100 participants, including honored members of the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Ethiopian Federal Parliament, leadership and young diplomats of the Mission, as well as teachers, students, and parents from Zoma School.

Amb. Jiang highlighted that the Open Day, as part of the activities for the “China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges”, fully demonstrates the vital role that education and culture play in fostering mutual understanding between the peoples of China and Africa. He emphasized that China is willing to work with Africa to implement the Global Civilization Initiative to cultivate the next generation committed to  China-Africa friendship.

Ms. Assegued remarked that China and Ethiopia share a long history of deep-rooted traditional friendship. She expressed gratitude for the mission’s strong support of Chinese language education at the school and affirmed her commitment to nurturing more grassroots ambassadors of China-Africa friendship.

The event unfolded in a warm and friendly atmosphere, with students performing Chinese songs, and guests watching animation themed on Chinese paper-cutting art, learning how to use chopsticks, and sampling Chinese cuisine.
