On August 10, Minister Zhang Wei, Deputy Head of the Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the African Union, attended the Opening Ceremony of the UN Ethiopia 2026 Life Skills Training for Adolescent Children. Senior officials from United Nations agencies and young participants of the program from multiple countries, totaling over 260, took part in the event.

Minister Zhang pointed out in his remarks that it is a shared responsibility of all nations to equip young people with knowledge and skills for the future and enhance their capacity to tackle hardships and resolve problems. China and Africa have carried out fruitful educational exchanges and cooperation in recent years, offering robust support for African youth’s development and capacity building. On this occasion, the Chinese Mission, together with the Chinese Medical Team in Ethiopia, introduced Taijiquan and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) into the training program for the first time. It is hoped that all trainees can experience the distinctive charm of Chinese culture and widely share their memorable moments and gains of “becoming Chinese”.
