Ambassador Kuang Weilin, Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union, met with H.E. Amb. Mary Beth Leonard, Head of the U.S. Mission to AU, on 12th January, 2017, for a wide-ranging exchange of views on the forthcoming AU Summit, the election of the AU Commission, Africa’s peace and security as well as issues of mutual interest.

Amb. Kuang briefed American diplomats on China-AU and China-Africa relations and collaborations, adding that the Chinese Mission to AU is ready to work together with its U.S. counterpart to further implement the consensus reached by Beijing and Washington on livelihood projects in Africa. Amb. Leonard on her part hoped to have more exchanges between the 2 Missions, and reaffirmed closer cooperation with the Chinese colleagues in future.
