H.E. Amb. Liu Yuxi Presents Credentials to the Acting Chairperson of the African Union Commission

On 16 August 2018, Ambassador Liu Yuxi, Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union, presented credentials to H.E. Mme. Amira Elfadil Mohammed Elfadil, Acting Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC).

Ambassador Liu conveyed the cordial greetings and best wishes of H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Chinese State Counsellor and Foreign Minister, to H.E. Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the AUC. He stressed that China appreciates the important role played by the AU in promoting Africa’s integration, peace, security as well as sustainable development. The Chinese Government attaches great importance to its relations with the AU and would like to take opportunity of the forthcoming Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to promote mutual political trust and practical cooperation in various fields and raise the China-AU relations and collaborations to a new height.

H.E. Mme. Amira Elfadil Mohammed Elfadil conveyed the cordial greetings of H.E. Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the AUC, to H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, State Counsellor and Foreign Minister of China, and welcomed Ambassador Liu to assume his new duty. She highly appreciated the China-Africa friendship and China-AU cooperation, saying that China is a reliable and sincere partner of the AU and contributes a lot to the peace, stability and sustainable development of Africa. The AU will work closely with the Chinese side to ensure the forthcoming FOCAC Beijing Summit to be a full success.

After the meeting, Ambassador Liu and Mme. Amira Elfadil Mohammed Elfadil received interviews with the Xinhua News Agency and CGTN, briefing the media on the preparation and expected outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit.
